Much has already been made of Joe Goddard's unflagging work ethic and seeming contention for the title of Hardest Working Man in Dance Music. There's the songwriting, producing and vocalizing for audience and critical darlings Hot Chip, the crafting of house gems as one half of 2 Bears, the handling of production duties on Little Boots' debut album, the tireless DJing, the co-founding of the Greco-Roman record label and party collective and, of course, the solo music he somehow finds time to record and release. On this collection of remixes for DFA, Goddard takes a brief respite from the controls and lets four other producer talents do the heavy lifting by remixing his anthemic single "Gabriel," off his EP of the same name. First up is London-based producer Seiji's reworking, which takes the house vibes of the original and increases them exponentially. Juan Maclean, appearing here in the guise of his Peach Melba side project, turns in an aqueous house mix built on rhythms that spin in spellbinding circles. The Compound One version throws a shuffling beat under Valentina's gorgeous, trilling vocals, and divides the difference between garage and R&B. While UK up-and-comer Ossie's take is alternately dreamy and room shaking -- and at times, a seamless blending of the two.
