Expanding on the promise of their excellent debut 7-inch, Brisbane, Australia's KITCHEN'S FLOOR's have now blessed us with their first full-length LP. The eleven dark n' dirgey pop songs —as bleakly monotonous as they are catchy—hint at both the wrong-chorded clang of Pussy Galore and the black-and-white paste-on mystery of the Xpressway and early Siltbreeze catalogs. Brief and effective, the perfectly-titled Loneliness is a Dirty Mattress lands with a gloriously blunt THUD. Though it wouldn't be far-off to call whatever it is they're doing some kind of damaged folk-blues, really what delivers is downer pop at its best—uncomfortable, unsound, and immediately satisfying.
