Canada's Wold is among the most bizarre and extreme entities to have emerged from the black metal scene in recent years. Hailing from the vast, barren plains of Saskatchewan, they have three albums under their belt already--intense, punishing rituals comprised of layered frequencies and abstract noise that listeners deem either pure genius or unbearable madness. The band's latest opus, Working Together for Our Privacy, is a new kind of Wold album. At only three extended tracks, it is their first completely instrumental release--looping noise fragments pieced together into a flurry of blizzard-like sonic fury. This truly unique and transcendent exercise in pure audial hypnosis transports one to strange and otherworldly destinations.
