Frankie Rose's "Interstellar" Best New Track By Pitchfork.

The title track off Frankie Rose's upcoming Interstellar album was deemed Best New Track by Pitchfork today.

 "As we already know from recent album cuts "Know Me" and "Night Swim", the ex-C86 punk Frankie Rose moves from jangly garage textures into the realm of sparkling dream-pop on her upcoming album, Interstellar. Rose has never presented a more dramatic sound than on the title track: a foundation of radiant synths stretch and ring softly across the song's first minute, her vocals offering another impressionist texture. It's an introduction full of minimal, glistening tension that pulls at you like a force of gravity.

That ends up being a beguiling intro for a song that is actually extremely loud. Rose has unequivocally grown beyond the confines of the distortion and fuzz that come along with shoegaze, but that genre's cascading, sonic enormity remains central. A pounding kick-drum booms alongside her high-floating harmonies, all of it hovering over immersive synth and cello parts. It's a dynamic and artful soundscape that not even her best known song, "Where Do You Run To", written during her brief time as a member of Vivian Girls, could have suggested." - words by By Jenn Pelly.
